Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the preparation of GAAP financial statements. This position involves direct supervision of a team member and is integral to supporting business operations by ensuring the timely completion and analysis of financial results and accounting transactions. The Senior Accountant will maintain a strong understanding of both internal and external requirements to ensure accurate and compliant reporting. This role requires collaboration across multiple departments, contributing to the growth and enhancement of general accounting, compliance, and financial analysis functions.

- Supervise, coach and mentor one direct report by establishing goals and objectives each year to enhance the individual’s professional development.
- Enhance/develop treasury knowledge by collaborating closely with the Treasury team to gain insights into the banking environment and related processes.
- Collaborate with the off-premise Marketing team on all 3rd party delivery partnerships and catering activities to review revenue, commissions, and refunds.
- Act as a business partner for Market Mangers and General Managers to optimize monthly accruals and provide explanations on activity to the restaurants.

- Review revenue related arrangements for compliance with US GAAP revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on cash, credit cards, gift cards, and refund processes to understand the impact on the overall financial reporting process.
- Participate in month-end financial close by recording, reviewing and reconciling all revenue, banking, nonprofit, gift card, and accounts receivables journal entries and reconciliations.
- Responsible for performing treasury activities, such as monitoring and clearing outstanding checks, reviewing deposits in transit, issuing wires, and recording debt transactions.
- Review weekly and monthly revenue support and SOX control workbooks.
- Analyze accrued expenses including but not limited to utilities and various other items.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

- Perform research and analysis of outstanding reconciling items by working with internal and external partners to provide timely resolutions with documentation of variances.
- Monitor, recommend, and implement improvements to current banking, accounts receivables, and general ledger methodologies and ERP practices.
- Manage multiple activities simultaneously and ensure all deliverables are completed timely (i.e., quarter end tasks, internal audit compliance, and other projects as requested).
- Support and promote policies and procedures related to SOX controls, corporate policies and related GAAP requirements.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is part of the Accounting team, under the Finance department overall.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Level/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting
- Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred or actively pursuing
Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in corporate or public accounting
- Experience in a public company reporting environment
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with general ledger, financial close process, and account reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Proficient in Microsoft Excel formulas and functionality
- Think critically by seeking information, critically evaluate information, apply knowledge, and solve problems
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
- Goal focused mindset to achieve company and personal goals
