The Digital Internal Communications Specialist should be a writer, project manager, critical thinker and innovative storyteller. This team member will be collaborative, organized, and articulate with the ability to distill messaging and work cross-functionally with a strategic mindset. They will help drive our multi-channel communications and internal employment branding through our digital platforms, as well as work hands on with various teams across the company to digitize some of our traditional processes.

 

The role is responsible for some of the independent maintenance of internal communications systems, including Portillo’s Connect and other digital tools like email. The purpose of the role is to improve Team Member engagement and internal stakeholder communication, so they will serve as a key point of contact for all different departments to consult, draft, edit and update materials for our different audiences within the company. The role requires the ability to understand and translate Portillo’s communication strategy and execute tasks in support of the strategy, such as engagement posts, newsletters and announcements, digital task creation and document revision. The role will lead and execute multiple projects towards the goal of improved communication.

·       Collaborate with peers and stakeholders throughout Portillo’s to represent the Communications team and voice in all internal digital communications

·       Partner and consult cross-functionally to determine who, what, where, when why and how content is being created, posted and delivered to our audiences

·       Participate in cross-functional workgroups and support different department needs

·       Create and deploy weekly company e-Newsletter, The Hound

·       Leverage AI to facilitate translation of key employee-facing communications into Spanish

·       Organize and execute day-to-day activities related to digital communications projects and initiatives

·       Independently develop communications to improve engagement to be posted on the internal communications network, including weekly materials for the field, support center, commissaries and all digital platforms

·       Manage internal Content Management System, the Knowledge Center

·       Consult on the improvement of documents shared in the Portillo’s Knowledge Center to include editing and alignment with Portillo’s communications templates and strategies

·       Participate in maintenance and execution of company communications calendar and strategic approach

·       Execute scheduling and delivery of digital communications according to established business rhythms

·       Support creation and review of company communications, including PowerPoint presentations and videos for town halls and other companywide events, flyers and handouts for Team Member-facing communications using Microsoft Suite and basic design tools, and digital materials for internal workspace (Portillo’s Connect)

·       Champion Portillo’s voice when developing, executing and reviewing internal communication materials

·       Subject matter expert on internal communications system (Portillo’s Connect), and use other digital communication technologies to drive effective and engaging communications

·       Act as a first point of contact for the creation of items published on Portillo’s Connect

·       Obtain and understand audience data, provide readouts for key stakeholders of digital tools, then adjust approach based on data and business needs with collaborating with partners to action on insights.

·       Modernize company’s digital materials and processes and implement methods to report on associated metrics

·       Identify best practices and continuous enhancements to build, deployment and delivery of digital communications across channels, for all audiences

·       Partner in creation, launch and ongoing maintenance of Internal Influencer program to increase team member engagement, including identifying and selecting potential internal influencers, developing prompts for influencers, consulting and editing content, tracking performance metrics and providing feedback

·       Collaborate with departments across the organization, including People, Marketing, and Operations

·       Help drive the look, feel and voice of Portillo’s across internal communications channels to ensure consistency

·       Serve as passionate storyteller who is knowledgeable about new trends and enhancements in digital media – brainstorm social media-style creative and utilize resources to support execution of those ideas.

·       Promote and protect the Portillo’s brand story and image

 

 

 

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

This role will partner with teams across the organization, including operations, marketing, learning and development, strategy, and others, as well as with the restaurants themselves. It’s critical that candidates have a positive attitude and function as a team player known for building relationships in a collaborative environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Level/Certifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing or a related field

Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

·       Strong critical thinking applied to project/program management

·       Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral communication skills

·       Knowledge of digital communication creation and delivery systems

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Suite tools as well as some digital graphic production

·       Basic knowledge of design programs in Adobe Suite is a plus

·       Understanding of data monitoring techniques as they relate to digital communications channels

·       Ability to organize work within a project management system such as SmartSheet and Asana

·       Skilled in multitasking, delivering under tight timelines, adapting to change

·       Ability to set schedules and manage deadlines effectively

·       Ability to build relationships and working collaboratively

·       Ability to lead change to keep pace with changing digital landscape

·       Careful attention to detail

·       Experience communicating with a dispersed workforce a plus

Travel Requirement

·       In-Restaurant Visits, including Team Member interaction (less than 20%)
