·       Collaborates with vendors and Team Members to understand and promote benefits

·       Oversees and administers decisions relating to California COVID-19 cases and working with payroll to ensure timely California sick pay to our Team Members.

·       Independently troubleshoots issues and revolves problems related to the health and welfare plans, eligibility, life events, enrollment, systems, etc.  

·       Is the point of contact for Portillo’s for benefit questions and inquiries and provides thorough and clear communication back to Team Members.

·       Responds to and guides decisions relating to benefits inquiries from Team Members and managers on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, life events, and other general inquiries.

·       Performs quality checks of benefits-related data and implements changes as needed.

·       Provides back-up assistance for the administration of the 401(k) plan, the non-qualified plan, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).

·       Manages benefits communications plan, approach, and collateral.  Develops content in partnership with the Communications Team and ensures it is accurate, relevant and clear.

·       Partners with vendors and communications to ensure that there is an aligned and purposeful approach to continued benefits communications throughout the year.

·       Oversees and facilitates open enrollment meetings and new hire benefits orientation meetings.

·       Identifies, implements, and manages Portillo’s perks.

·       Responsible for updating all plan documents, reference guides and plan summaries in partnership with vendors .

·       Executes duties following established policy and procedure.  Oversees highly confidential employee data in accordance with established policy and procedure.

 

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Benefits Manager and will interact with team members, field management, senior management, as well as various departments at the Restaurant Support Center and Portillo’s Food Service.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred

Minimum Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • One- two years’ experience in Human Resources and/or benefits administration
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional organization skills, and decision-making skills, especially under stressful, demanding situations
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and successfully execute tactics.
  • Proven initiative-taker who sets aggressive plans and consistently meets the challenge.

·       Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple projects at once.

·       Excellent communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, written and presentation skills.

·       Working knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, and COBRA

·       Must be able to effectively adapt to changing and new priorities.

·       Must be able to manage a high volume of inquiries and emails efficiently and effectively.

Travel Requirement

  • Occasional travel may be required 5%.
