Job Description:
The Crew Chief/Shift Leader, PFS is part of the plant leadership team and is responsible for assisting with plant operations by leading and directing the production crew in the day-to-day activities. The Crew Chief, PFS also ensures a safe/food safe environment, leads sanitation of equipment, assists with inventory management, completes production paperwork/transactions, and performs required quality inspections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Motivate and create a positive work environment through training, line corrections, and support
· Responsibly direct hourly crew in food production, equipment maintenance, and inventory costs and control, making adjustments as needed and performing troubleshooting to prevent downtime
· Accountable for the work performed by their hourly crew Team Members under their supervision.
· Complete process control and administrative paperwork
· Coach team members and recommend and participate in disciplinary actions
· Identify and correct sanitation issues
· Understand, follow, train, and enforce all safety, quality, sanitation, and production/operating policies and procedures to make a high-quality product in a safe and food safe manner
· Resolve team member conflicts and problems; escalate to the Production Manager as needed
· Maintain and support procedures and tracking for sanitation, GMP, and HACCP standards
· Maintain building/equipment via proper operations, cleaning, and preventive maintenance; take accurate measurements using applicable tools and equipment
· Set up and operate various production equipment and use computer controls to adjust programs, settings, parameters, etc. as needed
· Participate in screening, evaluation, and hiring of job candidates
· Meet production schedules under direction of Production Manager
· Meet regularly with rest of leadership team to provide feedback, make recommendations and plan
· All other duties as assigned
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Production Manager and interacts with other production departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Previous experience in food manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Good communication skills and be able to read, speak and understand English to communicate with team members, managers, and visitors. Bilingual Spanish a plus
- Proven ability to lead, influence, develop and coach a diverse group of team members
- Must have ability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods of time on hard and wet surface
- Must be able to withstand hot temperatures and/or cold temperatures
- Must be able to push/lift up to 50lbs.
- Required use of small tools and food manufacturing machinery
- Willingness to learn and apply technology.

Educational Level/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
